Ashes of Us

This drama is a classic modern urban romance short series, incorporating elements of mistaken identity, misunderstandings, revenge, and the rebirth of love. The female lead, Cecilia, enters into a marriage contract with the male lead, Jasper, to save her mother. Her younger sister, Lydia, mistakenly believes Jasper is an old man and manipulates Cecilia into taking her place to spend the night with him. However, Jasper actually knows that the woman he was with that night was Cecilia, not Lydia—a crucial detail that drives the plot forward. As the story unfolds, Jasper appoints Cecilia as his secretary, possibly to observe and understand her better. Over time, Cecilia gradually falls in love with him. Yet, she is devastated when she discovers that she is merely being used as bait to attract other women, exposing a dangerous pattern where any woman who gets close to Jasper meets misfortune. Throughout the series, the two experience numerous unexpected encounters and conflicts, deepening their misunderstandings and tensions. At a critical turning point, Jasper files for divorce—perhaps because he begins to recognize his true feelings for Cecilia or seeks to end this perilous game. Tragically, Cecilia ultimately suffers a terrible fate, marking a climactic moment and a pivotal shift in their relationship. After a series of revelations, the misunderstandings between them are resolved. Jasper proposes to Cecilia again, proving his willingness to atone for past mistakes and start anew with sincerity. In the end, the two overcome all obstacles and misunderstandings, finding happiness together.
